Debt collectors are a real pain in the butt. The most obscene collectors call you every single day. They call your parents and friends. They try their hardest to make your life miserable until you pay.
There is a way to make the debt collectors leave you alone. You can work with them to make a payment plan. If you make a reduced payment and follow through with what you say, then they will leave you alone. If you lie to a debt collector or do nothing, they will come after you until there is no tomorrow.
The best way to handle debt collectors is to talk with them honestly and do what you say you are going to do. People that completely avoid calls will end up having to pay more late fees and less options.
If it gets too bad, you can always get a new phone. You might get a phone that is in a different name so that they won't keep calling you.
Debt collectors go the extra mile. If you are avoiding them or change your phone, they may call video stores in the area and ask for information. They may get your best friend to give out your new number.
